Hurricanes and Nor'easters are a way of life on Hatteras Island. Each hurricane season usually sees one or two of its potentially disasterous storms impacting the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Each winter and spring are the times that Nor'easters frequently pound the shoresides of the Village. For the most part, the residents cope well with these natural occurances but occasionally there will be a storm that demands our attention.
